Psalms 18:28 Meaning: What Does 'Light My Lamp' Mean?

The word 'lamp' in Hebrew (ner or nir) is used throughout the Old Testament to mean life itself. In Job 18:6, a lamp going out means death. But here David says God will light his lamp. The darkness is real, enemies, death threats, despair, but God actually changes the situation, not just the feelings.
