When Making a Decision
Scripture to Read
James 1:5
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5
Reflection
Decisions can feel heavy when every option carries consequences. You may fear choosing wrongly, disappointing someone, or missing what God wants.
James invites those who lack wisdom to ask God. You do not have to pretend certainty. You can come honestly and ask the generous God to guide your thinking.
Prayer
Generous God,
I lack wisdom, and I ask you for it. You know this decision more fully than I do. You know the details I can see and the ones hidden from me.
Guide my thoughts. Purify my motives. Keep me from panic, pride, pressure, and people-pleasing. Help me gather the information I need, listen to wise counsel, and pay attention to your word.
If I need to wait, give patience. If I need to act, give courage. If I need to let go of an option, give peace.
Lead me in wisdom without reproach.
Amen.
